Global Packet Radio Service (GPRS) creates an affordable, fixed-cost solution for covert surveillance, remote monitoring and mobile tracking.

GeoSentry, Inc., provider of covert wireless tracking solutions for security and surveillance, has introduced Global Packet Radio Service (GPRS) wireless communications capability for its family of advanced location tracking solutions, along with an affordable, unlimited usage pricing plan.

“The addition of GPRS, an efficient and affordable wireless messaging service, brings much-needed price stability to the remote monitoring/mobile tracking market,” notes GeoSentry President Gary Russell. “With a GeoSentry GPRS-enabled mobile tracker, customers can pay a single, flat monthly rate for their monitoring and tracking service, regardless of how many messages they send and receive. Their tracking costs are fixed so there are no billing surprises.”

The GeoSentry line of products are all equipped with GSM/GPRS wireless communications. With the worldwide roll-out of the GSM/GPRS wireless voice and data network, the company’s devices are ideal for unobserved monitoring of high-value, remote assets, and key individuals, anywhere there is GSM/GPRS coverage, Russell states.

“With the ever-growing need for executive protection, loss prevention and asset tracking, our new GPRS capability will assure that customers around the globe can afford to undertake critical situational awareness of all their important personnel and assets.”

Portable devices now equipped with GPRS include:

  • The MiniTracker (MT-101), a pocket-sized unit for discreet surveillance and quick deployment;
  • The ProXimityTracker with geographic activation capability (XT-101, and XT-50) for covert tracking of courier delivery cargo;
  • The ruggedized and waterproof Stealth Tracker (ST-200) system for longer-term discreet monitoring, tracking and situational awareness;
  • And the covert Slap-N-Track (SNT-151, and SNT-250) tracking systems for monitoring and recovery of high-value assets and for law enforcement surveillance operations.

All GeoSentry products are shipped ready-to-go, out of the box, and will continue to offer GSM wireless communications, in addition to GPRS. The company offers several rate plans, including unlimited usage, Russell adds.

The portable tracking units rely upon SureTrakTM location technology from GeoTrax to pinpoint the location of the device (and its associated asset). This suite of location capabilities, which includes enhanced GPS sensitivity, cell tower estimation, and an RF beacon to provide location information in the absence of GPS satellite coverage, locates the device even inside a building or other hidden location, Russell states.

Automatic reports via the Internet display the last known position of the GeoSentry monitoring and tracking units. Additionally, related information, including continuous location monitoring, operation status and mobile history of the device is provided. Secure SSL technology ensures that only authorized personnel have access to this location and alert information. Optional quick-connect external battery packs help extend the field life of the devices for days or weeks, enabling longer term location reporting and monitoring.
