Mediline Offers Holiday Help for Carers

(PRWEB) October 14, 2006 -- Going away on holiday to forget all our worries, for a while at least, is vital to help us re-charge our batteries. But for full-time carers, taking a break isn’t that simple, unless, that is, they enlist the help of a local family business, Mediline.

Often it’s possible to arrange home care for a loved one during the day, if relatives, friends and even kind neighbours lend a helping hand. But there are the nights to consider, which is why for carers, taking a holiday can seem an impossible dream.

The good news is that quality live - in care for a loved one while you’re away can be arranged. It isn’t difficult – if you talk to the people at Mediline, a family business, they’ll explain all the options.

For information on the nursing care services offered by Mediline, visit www.medilinenurses.co.uk/services.htm
Peter and Sylvia Cook, owners of Mediline, firmly believe, when it comes to being cared for, there’s no place like home.

Pharmacist Peter and his wife Sylvia, set up Mediline Nurses and Carers three years ago to provide expert, professional and kindly care for people of all ages in their own homes. Mediline supplies nurses and carers on a flexible, full-time, part-time, long or short term basis.

Says Sylvia: “It’s simply human nature that people like to be cared for in their own familiar surroundings, so that they can enjoy their garden and have their family around them, with friends and neighbours popping in for a chat.”

“Even the government is now considering that it is better for people to be cared for at home for as long as possible to maintain a better quality of life. To this end, funds are now being made available through social services, and in many cases, it is as cost effective to have a loved one cared for in their own surroundings as in a residential home.” adds Peter.

Mediline aspires to the highest standards and fully complies will all government requirements on social care, and whether you live in a stately home or a modest semi, the care you will receive form Mediline staff is always the same high quality.

Says Avril Press, Operations Manager at Mediline: “We don’t just offer nursing care, we also provide companionship, friendship and moral and practical support.” And that, she adds, can sometimes even extend to looking after the clients’ pets.

Because it is a family business, Mediline offers that all-important personal touch. In the case of every new client, a care plan is worked out, tailored to the person’s individual needs.

Nursing director Mary Mollatt, a former hospital sister of 20 years experience, goes to see every new client to assess their level of need, and then devise a care plan for them.

The plan is flexible, multifaceted to cover every eventuality and can change as the persons needs change.

Typically, the kind of things a carer worries about when he or she is away, is that their loved one may have forgotten to take their tablets, may have had a fall or missed a doctors appointment.

“We can take care of all of that”, Avril says. “Our team of nurses and carers get great job satisfaction out of what they do.”

Respite care, which is a ‘holiday’ alternative, can be very disturbing if people find themselves among others in much worse condition than themselves. That’s why being cared for in your own home is generally a much happier experience.

Mediline team care for people with a wide variety of needs. It could be a young person with learning disabilities or, in a recent incidence, a lady who needed someone to move into her home and care for her children while she was in hospital having a major operation and during her recovery period afterwards.

Mediline pride themselves on finding exactly the right person for each position.

“All our carers and nurses are carefully vetted,” Peter says. “ We hand pick and rigorously interview them, making sure that all necessary checks are carried out before they join are team.”

The Cooks feel that a compassionate, approachable attitude is vital to their work. “Our whole team is instilled with the desire to be the best in the field.”
