Bauer International, Inc., designers and importers of British and Dutch colonial plantation-style furniture that is reminiscent of 19th century furnishings from the colonies of the East and West Indies, announces the opening of Island House, their first showroom in the Charleston, SC area.

Bauer International announces the opening of Island House, in Charleston, South Carolina. A grand opening weekend is planned Friday, October 27th and Saturday October 28th.

Island House, a 10,000 square foot showroom open to the public and the design trade, is the first location in South Carolina where both professional designers and the public can shop for and view Bauer International's extensive collection of home furnishings. Island House is located on Daniel Island at 414 Jessen Lane and Clements Ferry Road, adjacent to Bauer International's corporate headquarters.

For twelve years, Bauer International has been the leading purveyor in the wholesale furniture industry of fine rattan and mahogany, British Colonial Plantation, and Coastal inspired furniture. Their ten different collections all on view at Island House, evoke the romance and timeless authenticity of another age. With room style vignettes furnished throughout its airy interior, Island House is Bauer's first showroom open to the public. In this setting, customers can experience how Bauer International's collection of over 1000 pieces feels and looks. Accenting the collection and available for sale, are the finest upholstery, rugs, fabrics, lighting and home accessories. At Island House, customers will also find unique and antique one-of-a -kind furniture pieces, object de art, and accessories acquired around the world by the proprietor on his many adventures.

The architectural design of Island House takes it cues from 19th Century Caribbean and Coastal plantation warehouses, utilizing a bold tin roof, 8' clapboard hurricane shutters, and wood bracket details. Upon stepping inside, one finds the interior outfitted with mahogany railing, plantation fans, and exposed beams. Enhancing the atmosphere is music from Caribbean, Latin American and African cultures.

The public is invited to join in the festivities of Island House's Grand Opening, Friday October 27 and Saturday, October 28, 2006 from 10 am -6 pm. Guests are invited to sip frozen island-style drinks while listening to a live reggae band and perusing the individual room vignettes at Island House. Guests may also register for the chance to win a $1,000.00 shopping spree at Island House.

Island House is open to the public from 10am to 6pm, Tuesday through Saturday.
