A Young Man Says 'Farewell to Innocence' in Author's Debut Science Fiction Novel

A young man learns his life isn’t what it seems to be in John Boekenoogen’s debut novel “Farewell to Innocence” (978-1-84728-818-9, Trade Paperback, 418 pp, 6 x 9, $27.00).

Gainesville, FL (PRWEB) October 17, 2006 -- Since watching his first syndicated episode of Star Trek in 1972, John Boekenoogen has been a fan of science fiction. During his sophomore year of high school, John spent the summer with his grandparents in California where he began to write short stories, this allowed John to experiment with characters and different settings. John was later encouraged by friends to write that “Great American Novel.”

In John Boekenoogen’s first novel Farewell to Innocence, a young man’s life is radically altered when he learns that what seems like an ordinary life is far from ordinary. Following a car accident this history teacher learns that he is actually a reincarnated Prime Minister who was stricken down by a wicked, power hungry man.

Combining hard core science fiction with legends of Native American folk lore, the author has created a story that is adventurous and full of excitement. The way this author merges modern day situations with that of inter-galactic mystery is reminiscent of the writings of noted science fiction author Ray Bradbury.

Currently, John and his wife Laura, live in Gainesville, Florida where they both work at The University of Florida. He continues to enjoy writing and hopes to produce a few sequels to his first novel Farewell to Innocence.
