About Micah Stampley
Micah Stampley, born in Los Angeles, California, grew up in Baton Rouge, Louisiana as one of eight children born to Richard Stampley and Delmarie Stampley. By the age of seven, Micah was given the reigns as choir director at his father's church, as he himself to play the piano and keyboard to enhance his father's ministry. At age 13, with his brother Nathaniel as his partner, Micah become the church's official music minister.
After graduation, Micah continued in ministry, however, after his brother was killed, he felt devastated, alone, and adrift in his musical career. Micah traveled the country with nationally know evangelist, Rev. Earl Johnson. In 2004, Micah won the Stellar Award's National Star Search. Shortly thereafter, Micah was invited to Bishop T. D. Jakes' Potter's House as a special musical guest. After service Bishop Jakes offered him a record deal instantly. This divine connection has lead to extensive exposure nationally and abroad both in conjunction with Bishop T.D. Jakes and independently.
The rest as they say is history in the making. Micah's sophomore album, A Fresh Wind, a refreshing compendium of exuberant worship and praise melodies; on Levitical Records, comes on the heels of his chart topping first album which hit the music charts as the second highest debut for a Male Gospel Artist in the history of Billboard, a 1 of 10 Critic Pick for Billboard's Gospel 2005 Year In Music and garnered him a double 2006 Stellar Award nomination in the "Male Vocalist of the Year" and "New Artist of the Year" categories.
