Is Orange County NY the new motorcycle Mecca? Perhaps it is – and with the announcement of the newly-formed partnership between RoadLoK Security and Orange County Choppers it seems that motorcycling and Orange County go hand-in-hand. RoadLoK Security, the developer and manufacturer of the world’s first, and only, custom motorcycle locking system, has developed a motorcycle immobilization device for OCC’s all new Splitback Chopper. The Splitback Chopper is OCC’s first production-line chopper made available to the mass market and features a factory-equipped RoadLoK MID.
What is a RoadLoK? The RoadLoK MID is the world’s first model specific motorcycle locking system which provides a new level of protection for motorcycles. It is permanently mounted to the bike and contains an ultra-high security custom lock mechanism from ABLOY®, the largest independent lock company in the world. The ABLOY Exec® lock mechanism is used to protect assets around the globe worth tens of millions of dollars. The RoadLoK MID combines the ABLOY lock mechanism with a removable, spring-loaded BrakeBolt™ locking pin, which, when engaged, renders the bike immobile. The wheels are locked down; they will not roll at all.
How does it look? Don’t let the highly polished chrome finish fool you, the Splitback Chopper’s custom RoadLoK MID offers a high level of motorcycle security while maintaining its aesthetic appeal in this aesthetics-driven industry. It’s heavy duty, sleek and stylish – equipment you’d only expect from the design team at OCC.
Eric Xavier, RoadLoK Security CEO explained, “Thieves cannot remove the lock since it is part of the bike, and thieves cannot pick the ABLOY lock mechanism. With the wheels locked down, an attempted theft won’t destroy the braking system components and absent-minded riders won’t hurt themselves or the bike. If the rider forgets to unlock the MID before riding the bike’s engine will simply stall. It’s like trying to take off from a stopped position while holding the brake lever… the engine can’t move the bike, so it stalls. That’s exactly what the RoadLoK MID does to the bike – it allows absolutely no movement causing the engine to stall if you try to ride away without unlocking it. That’s better than launching yourself over the handlebars or smashing your expensive brake caliper.” When the bike is unlocked the BrakeBolt is clipped to the rider’s keys so there is no chance of the MID accidentally locking during riding.
The newly formed partnership between RoadLoK Security and Orange County Choppers was forged by the Teutuls’ continuous effort to seek innovative designs and systems they can incorporate into the choppers they build. “This relationship between us and OCC will not only give the Splitback Chopper a prominent place in the market as being the first motorcycle with a factory wheel-locking system, it also positions RoadLoK as a premier name in the motorcycle security market. We’re truly honored to be a part of OCC’s new production chopper program.” stated Adam Xavier, CFO of RoadLoK Security. “The RoadLoK, in my opinion, is the top dog in motorcycle security…and to be honest, we are making the Splitback to be the highest quality chopper available to the mass market, so you bet I am only going to use the highest quality parts when we build them.”, said Paul Teutul Sr., President of Orange County Choppers, Inc.
Headquartered in Middletown NY, RoadLoK Security is just down the road from the Teutuls and their world-famous shop at Orange County Choppers. The Teutuls are the stars of the hit television series, American Chopper, airing Monday nights on the Discovery Channel.
