Jason O’Malley and J.R. Craigmile are the modern bohemians (a.k.a. MoBo’s) behind Handsome Devil Press. When they fortuitously met on a blind date 5 years ago, Jason was doing editorial illustration and J.R. was crunching numbers for major motion pictures and television. After merging talents, homes, and dogs, HDP was born out of necessity: they wanted to quit their day jobs. Their mission was simple: design greeting cards with a gay sensibility and a sophisticated edge. Chic, sexy (but not pornographic), and modern. Already a hit in Europe, New York City, and the web, they’re winning over new fans everyday with their colorfully illustrated designs for all occasions.

THE COLLECTIONS

GUYS — Greeting cards for the modern man. O’Malley describes their top selling collection as, “free of the usual guy card clichés and kind of hot in a wholesome way.” Straight or gay or (somewhere in between), this collection updates the predictable genre of men’s cards with a fresh and sexy take on masculinity.

EVERYDAY — Greeting cards for everyone else on your list. A bit straighter, with broad appeal for a range of occasions: weddings, new baby, birthday, and more. O’Malley sums this collection up as, “Hip enough for you, but clean enough to give to your mother.”

FOR HER — New for 2006. Greeting cards for our lady lovin’ sisters. Lesbian flavored cards with that Handsome Devil Press sense of humor and style. They’re lesbilicious!

HOLIDAY — New for 2006. 22 designs to ring in the holidays with graphic sophistication. Also available in boxed sets of 10.

TYPOGRAPHIC — Clean lines, modern colorways, and bold typography. New for 2006: 8 new designs featuring chic patterns for all occasions. Their graphic valentines get the message across without the usual frills and lace. Craigmile says their top selling Camouflage Valentines “are 100% dude approved!”

PHOTOGRAFIK — Edgy, contemporary, and unusual photographs by emerging artists set these cards apart from the rest. No misty sunsets here.

Individual cards retail for around $3.50, boxed holiday cards for around $16. Available for purchase at select retailers in the US and Europe and at http://www.handsomedevilpress.com.
