Ion Signature Technology Offers New, Free Application Note: “Forensic Analysis of Basic Drugs in Blood and Tissue Samples”

Ion Signature Technology has announced the availability of a new, free application note titled: “Forensic Analysis of Basic Drugs in Blood and Tissue Samples.”

NORTH SMITHFIELD, RI (PRWEB) October 18, 2006 -- Ion Signature Technology has announced the availability of a new, free application note titled: “Forensic Analysis of Basic Drugs in Blood and Tissue Samples.”

Analysts at the Saint Louis University Forensic Toxicology Laboratory used Ion Signature Technology's deconvolution software to compose a target compound identification method and a database for commonly encountered drugs and metabolites, which they then used to analyze a set of postmortem samples taken as blood, urine, liver and brain specimens. In the original method, a 45 minute GC/NPD run was followed by a 60 minute GC/MS run for confirmation of target identification.

Since the Ion Signature deconvolution software is capable of identifying analytes even with significant co-elution, the GC/MS runtime was reduced to 30 minutes by making changes to the oven program and carrier flow, and the GC/NPD analysis was eliminated completely, thus helping the laboratory reach its goals of reducing the total analysis time from 105 minutes down to 30 minutes, and improving throughput.

The resulting application note, "Forensic Analysis of Basic Drugs in Blood and Tissue Samples," was presented at the recent GBMSDG/MASSEP conference in Boston. Request the entire, free application note via e-mail.

About Ion Signature Technology
Ion Signature quantitative deconvolution software for gas chromatography/mass spectrometry instruments is the industry's most powerful MS data analysis software. Ion Signature software provides precise, rapid compound identification and quantification, extracting each compound's characteristic signature, untangling it from the surrounding sample matrix, and delivering a one-of-a-kind ion "fingerprint."

For contract laboratories, the software eliminates costly re-analysis and cuts data review time by 75%. For R&D and corporate labs, it efficiently and accurately delivers the highest-quality data, lowest method-detection limits, highest repeatability, and fastest time to analysis.

Download a free, fully-working 30-day trial of Ion Signature software from: http://www.ionsigtech.com/products/products_ionsignature_getademo.php.
