The Cross Over concept was first developed by Cathy Berden and her family while house-bound with an ill relative. "We amused ourselves by playing all sorts of games, and before we knew it, we were making up rules for a whole new game," Says Berden. As the Berdens shared their game concept with family and friends, they were encouraged to develop it further. With a very favorable response to the original handmade wooden version the couple produced themselves, they have turned their focus to a manufactured game geared more to the youth.
The Berdens have sold more than 1,000 wooden games and are excited about turning this next version of the Cross Over game into a successful new business venture.
Cross Over has two colorful new characters, "Chuck & Merle". The two frogs mimicking the likeness of both Steve and Cathy's fathers. "What fun it has been to watch these characters come to life through our Dads, I think they are proud to be frogs," Says Berden.
The simple game rules, combined with strategic moves make Cross Over an ideal diversion for children and adults. "The rules have proved to be the most difficult," Says Berden. It isn't easy to get your idea across to the vast. "We have invested more time and efforts into this aspect than any other." With a final version that is both easy to understand and enjoyable to look at.
Cross Over is a two-player game in which each player starts with ten yellow marbles on their side of the board Each roll of the die allows different options for moving one or more marbles. The winner is the first player to eliminate all marbles from their side of the board. The strategy is taking advantage of the different move options at the right time. The chance is just rolling the die.
