The City of Covington, Kentucky has been and will continue to be attractive to developers who may not be aware of one of Covington's most valuable assets: The significant stock of 19th and early 20th century buildings. There are currently plans that will result in the loss of a large number of these buildings.

Covington, Kentucky Historic Preservation Intervention Meeting to be held Thursday, October 19th 2006.

Items up for discussion at the meeting include:

  • Covington's architectural heritage is significant and a major factor in attracting and keeping residents in and visitors to Covington and northern Kentucky;

  • Covington's historic architecture is irreplaceable and cannot be duplicated and should not be destroyed;

  • Covington should continue to offer viable and vibrant retail and residential components;

  • Methods of economic development that include and adaptively reuse historic structures;

  • Completing ideas for presentation to the city staff, Mayor and Commissioners and any potential developer who might have a plan contrary to the salvation of these structures.
