Kepping to Exhibit Glass Sculptures at Palm Beach International Airport, West Palm Beach, Florida

Thomas Kepping will be exhibiting his Glass Sculptures at the Palm Beach International Airport from October 6, 2006 thru February 7, 2007. The exhibition is in conjunction with the Palm Beach County’s Art in Public Places program.

(PRWEB) October 19, 2006 -- Kepping is an international artist, working and living in Singer Island, Florida and Granada Nicaragua. He was born in New York City in 1959 and raised on the Eastern Shore of Maryland.

His first studio was in Granada, Nicaragua where he did mostly design work and oil paintings. Further expansion into the glass world found him dividing his time between Nicaragua and Singer Island, Florida, where the primary studio is now located.

Kepping has an unusual and entropic way of working with glass. As he formulates his own colored glass, a process is created where unique blending yields distinctive results both in finish and texture. Several different sculpting methods based upon design requirements. Generally speaking, a base cullet glass is heated to between 1700 & 2100 degrees where coloring is added. The molten glass is then gravity cast and manipulated using stainless steel instruments. Work is then cooled and then reheated for reshaping and polishing.

Copper and aluminum are used as the base metals used for mounting and display thus making the work scalable in size.

His work has been shown in Central America with public and private showings in Nicaragua and Costa Rica and resides in private collections.
