CT Dr. Mark Leondires to be Honored by American Fertility Association
Reproductive expert Dr. Mark Leondires of Reproductive Medicine Associates of CT will be honored at AFA’s Kokopelli Ball for helping patients battle infertility.
Norwalk and Danbury, CT (PRWEB) October 19, 2006 -- Dr. Mark P. Leondires, MD, FACOG, will receive the Family Building Award from the American Fertility Association (AFA) at its annual gala, The Kokopelli Ball, to be held next month at Chelsea Piers in New York City.
Dr. Leondires, Medical Director of Reproductive Medicine Associates, is renowned throughout the region for his expertise in reproductive endocrinology, assisted reproductive technology (ART) and infertility. He is a longtime supporter of the AFA, sponsoring and participating in its NY-area events such as the Family Building Event and the Fertility Dream 5K Run, and assisting in its national education efforts through live online chats with patients battling infertility. He is one of five medical doctors throughout the country who will receive the AFA’s 2006 Family Building Award, which acknowledges physicians who provide outstanding care to patients struggling with the disease of infertility – whether through treatment that results in a successful pregnancy, or other family-building options such as surrogacy or adoption.
“It’s been my great privilege to work with such an effective, caring organization as the American Fertility Association, and I am honored by their recognition of my contributions to our common goals,” Dr. Leondires notes. “From providing solid, straightforward information about infertility, to offering support for those struggling with the condition, to advocating for family and reproductive rights at the local, state and national level, the AFA is a staunch ally for patients and practitioners alike,” Dr. Leondires adds.
The Kokopelli Ball is a black-tie celebration taking place on Monday, November 6th at Pier Sixty on Chelsea Piers in lower Manhattan. The Mistress of Ceremonies will be AFA spokeswoman and television and movie actress Brenda Strong, who herself struggled with infertility for years. Strong’s credits include guest appearances on CSI and Seinfeld, and most recently as Mary-Alice Young, the narrator and mysteriously deceased Wisteria Lane neighbor on Desperate Housewives. The evening will include cocktails, dinner, dancing and an auction, as well as the conferring of the Family Building Award, the Lifetime Achievement Award, the Robert Edwards Scientific Award and the Kokopelli Prize.
Based in New York, NY, the American Fertility Association is a national organization dedicated to educating, supporting and advocating for men and women concerned with reproductive health, fertility preservation, infertility and all forms of family building.
