Zombies and Other Spooky Creatures Coming to Art Institute of California - Inland Empire
Art Institute of California - Inland Empire plans a frighteningly realistic haunted house where zombies will pop out of the wall, science experiments will go very awry and victims, a.k.a. guests, will walk away with a greater understanding of animation and graphic design. The campuses haunted house, which it will host Oct. 26 and Oct. 27, will be different from any other in the Inland Empire because of the specialized training students receive there. What's more, it will give all the admission collected -- $5 for each adult, $3 for each child -- to a non-profit organization.
San Bernardino, CA (PRWEB) October 20, 2006 -- A frighteningly realistic haunted house is in the works at Art Institute of California-Inland Empire (Ai), where zombies will pop out of the wall, science experiments will go terribly awry and “victims,” a.k.a. guests, will escape with a new understanding of animation and multi-media,
“This is not your traditional haunted house,” said student Branden Aguilera, project director. “It is unique and showcases The Art Institute and its amazing students.”
This haunted house will differ from others because of the training offered by The Art Institute of California – Inland Empire. Majors include graphic design, interactive media design, interior design, media arts and animation and game art and design, all of which come together as an entertaining showcase in this project.
“We want people to not only come in and have fun, but also to learn about Ai and what it has to offer,” said Thomas Bustamante, Associate Director of Student Affairs.
The Art Institute of California – Inland Empire will transform a classroom and the student lounge into a Zombie Experimental Research center. Through animation, victims who find themselves on this journey through the haunted house will come in contact with zombies as they perform their science experiments, and witness some disastrous results.
By creatively combining specialized technology with ordinary items like fishing line and foam padding, they hope to present an experience that looks, sounds and feels frighteningly real.
The Art Institute of California-Inland Empire President’s Club, Ai’s student leaders, came up with the idea of a haunted house after Campus President Byron Chung said he’d like the school to have activities that benefit nonprofit organizations in the Inland Empire community. Under Aguilera’s direction several dozen other students are involved, some in leadership roles, others contributing their talents in other ways.
“We wanted to have the experience of working on a real-life project, as if we were doing this for a paying customer,” Aguilera said. “Students are working on all different areas of this.”
The Ai Spooktacular, an event planned to showcase the students’ creation, will also feature carnival games, pumpkin and face painting, drawing workshops and information about the campus itself. Admission is $5 for adults, $3 for children both Thursday Oct. 26 and Friday Oct. 27. The hours of operation are Thursday Oct. 26 6 pm. to 9 p.m. and Friday Oct. 27 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.
The Art Institute of California—Inland Empire will donate all of the admission collected to involved non-profit organizations. Non-profits and their members are able to attend the event from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, October 26 for free by stating their non-profit affiliation.
