Roots Rocker J-Henry Hits 2006 CMJ Music Marathon to Participate on "Making It As An Alternative Country Artist" Panel

J-Henry hits 2006 CMJ Music Marathon to participate on Alternative Country Artist Panel

New York, NY (PRWEB) October 20, 2006 -- Critically-acclaimed rising roots rocker, J-HENRY, a central New Jersey native who artfully blends Americana, Blues, Rock and Pop in his current CD – Another Long Day, is scheduled to hit this year’s CMJ Music Marathon to participate on the panel “No Cowboy Hat Required: Making It As An Alternative Country Artist,” on Tuesday, October 31 from 1:15 – 2:15 p.m. at Lincoln Center in New York.

The panel will be moderated by Jesse Fox Mayshark, contributing editor of No Depression, and also includes Evan Kroft, Director of Music and Talent Development at CMT and John Vacanti, owner of Buffalo Records, as panelists. It is a forum for artists who don’t quite fit the traditional mold of mainstream country. Discussion will focus on how to deal with industry stereotyping, along with how to overcome these challenges for artists who choose not to be pigeonholed.

J-Henry, who is also set to perform at Crash Mansion’s Southern Rock Night (NY) on October 26, was profiled in the New York Times, and can also be seen on PBS Network’s emerging artists special airing this year. He is also part of NASCAR Regional Racing.com’s “Emerging Artist Series” and has performed at many of NASCAR’s biggest events including INDY, Milwaukee Mile and Stockton.

His outstanding live show includes an 8-piece classic rock band of seasoned players including former Spin Doctor’s guitarist Anthony Krizan, along with top-of-the-line musicians who have toured with the Stones, Mellencamp, Meatloaf and Matchbox 20. Critics praise the prolific singer/songwriter as “openly and confidently reinventing and reviving the dormant genre of Americana. He recently performed with Sheryl Crow.

CMJ Music Marathon has been a beacon for the world’s most cutting-edge and innovative music for the past 25 years, introducing thousands of rising stars at showcases and concerts at New York City’s most important venues. CMJ helped launch the careers of many of today’s brightest stars with early Marathon performances by Green Day, The Killers, Eminem, Radiohead, Black Eyed Peas, Beastie Boys, R.E.M. and Arcade Fire. Additionally, legends such as Willie Nelson, James Brown, Patti Smith and the late Johnny Cash have also graced the CMJ stages, inspiring younger artists and seasoned professionals alike. Previous keynote speakers have included David Bowie, Brian Wilson, Moby, Queen Latifah, George Clinton and Ice-T among others. Today, more than 100,000 music professionals, artists and fans converge every autumn for CMJ Music Marathon and CMJ FilmFest, celebrating the very best in new music, film and pop culture.
