Traveling Vietnam War Memorial Wall Arrives in Sidney Ohio

The Traveling Vietnam Memorial Wall continues it's journey of remembrance with a stop in Sidney, Ohio. The exhibit honors the incredible sacrifices and hardships of our veterans and reminds how, even in a small Ohio town, we were all affected by the war in Vietnam.

Sidney, Ohio (PRWEB) October 19, 2006 -- Traveling Vietnam War Memorial Wall arrives in Sidney Ohio.

The traveling tribute pays homage to those who served their country, enabling visitors to share a common bond of experience; a reminder of America's veterans' dedication to freedom. The memorial serves as an emotional and educational reminder, of the sacrifices made by Vietnam vets in particular; upholding the promise that those who served shall not be forgotten.

The semi-trailer transporting the memorial arrived with it's with Motorcycle escort to the cheers of flag waving spectators. The caravan traveled through Sidney to the VFW post for dinner and refreshments. The Traveling Vietnam War Memorial Wall will be setup for viewing by noon Thursday 10/19/2006 at Custenborder Field, just east of downtown Sidney, Ohio on State
Route 47. The traveling memorial will remain open continuously till 7 p.m. Sunday.

The Wall displaying the names of 58,283 war dead is the largest replica of the original Vietnam Memorial Wall in Washington, D.C. A visually impressive 4/5 scale replica of the Travelling Memorial stands 8 feet high at the apex, spanning 370 feet. A veterans art exhibit and "The Ohio Wall" will also be featured at the Sidney, Ohio event.

Order of Events:

Noon Thursday 10/19/2006 Set up for viewing (The Wall remains open for viewing 24hrs/day till 7PM Sunday)
10 A.M. Saturday 10/21/2006 Opening Ceremony
2 PM Sunday 10/22/2006 Closing Ceremony
7 PM Sunday 10/22/2006 End of viewing time

The event is organized by Robert Huston, John Huston and Keith Goins; to honor the Shelby County Chapter of Gold Star Mothers, the community and families who suffered the loss of a loved one or friend in the Vietnam War. The exhibit is organized and maintained by the American Veteran's Traveling tribute.
