Two Whimsical Doodles Juried Into Fall/Winter American Juried Art Salon Show, Artist is Category Winner

Two art works created by Monument resident and artist, Jan C.J. Jones (creator of Whimsical Doodle’s Whimsical Worlds), has won acceptance into the prestigious American Juried Art Salon's 2006 Fall/Winter show. Jones was selected as a category winner.

Monument, CO (PRWEB) October 21, 2006 -- Two works from the Whimsical Doodle’s Whimsical Worlds collection, created by artist Jan C.J. Jones were juried and accepted into the Colored Pencil Graphics division for the American Juried Art Salon's 2006 Fall/Winter show. Jones was also named the Divisional Award Winner of the Pastel/Graphics category which garnered a cash award. The American Juried Art Salon hosts juried art exhibitions of the highest ethical standards while maintaining close professional relationships with many major galleries that view the juried-in art. Jones’ two works are titled "First Impressions" and “The Rastafarian Flute-Harpist Arrived Late.” Described as "Peter Max colliding with Kandinsky," Jones’ Whimsical Doodles transport the viewer into mostly lighthearted abstract scenes filled with geometry, color, wonderfully composed spaces occupied (in some cases) by unfamiliar, otherworldly creatures. Each drawing represents a small segment of a much greater story to be completed or continued by the viewer. Intending to incite the imagination and inspire creativity, observers are invited to complete the story. The art show can be viewed at www.naagd.com, the website of The National Association for Gallery Owners, Directors & Artists who co-hosted the show. (The link is located at the upper right of the opening page.)

The American Juried Art Salon is a not-for-profit corporation in Dallas, Texas, founded to promote excellence in the visual arts by providing recognition and career building opportunities for established and emerging artists of talent. The twice-a-year competition attracts entries from throughout Europe and North America. Jurists are well known college and university art professors in the U.S. and Canada.

Whimsical Doodle’s Whimsical Worlds was featured in the 2005 Boulder Fringe Art Festival in Boulder, CO, the 2005 Renegade Artists Festival in Estes Park, CO., juried and accepted for 2 individual artist shows in 2006 by the Pikes Peak Library District and included in the international POP GESICHT Art Collection Project.
