Last week Hall participated in the annual Worldcom Public Relations Group Fall Americas Region Meeting in Nashville and moderated a panel called “Trends and Best Practices in Emerging Media.” She was joined on the panel by her colleague, Jason Baer, the senior director of Mighty Interactive, the internet marketing division of Off Madison Ave. Baer discussed Internet marketing and public relations topics with fellow industry experts Eric Schwartzman, founder and president of iPressroom, and Clint Smith, the CEO of Emma.
Baer’s presentation focused on how public relations and interactive marketing tools and public relations efforts require a synthesis of tactics. He outlined the importance of optimizing press releases for maximum search benefit, utilizing editorial calendars of new search-friendly content on Web sites and targeting blogs and podcasts that have both public relations and search engine marketing benefits. Baer explained how to craft messaging and pitches by including the specific words and phrases most likely to be searched, chart effectiveness of public relations initiatives by monitoring Web site metrics and test efficacy of messaging.
Baer, who founded Mighty Interactive, has been providing Internet consulting services since the inception of the medium in 1994. He serves on the Board of the Greater Phoenix Chamber of Commerce and is a frequent speaker at marketing and advertising conferences.
