“Prescription For Madness” Highlights Dangers of Anti-Depressant Medications

Book is real life story of one family’s nightmare.

Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) October 21, 2006 –- “Prescription For Madness” (Morgan James Publishing, 2006, ISBN 1-933596-04-X) by Joy Hancock is a gripping and compelling true story of the dangers of prescription anti-depressant and anti-psychotic medications. The book is the story of the horrendous and terrifying ordeal of her son, Christopher and the upside down ordeal that her family went through after he was diagnosed with a mental illness and his doctors prescribe anti-depressant medications. “Prescription For Madness” is a warning for all, of how so many in today’s world, are falling victim to corporate greed, doctor negligence, and a breech of public trust.

“Pharmaceutical companies and doctors act as if anti-depressant medications are the simple solution to so many problems and ills,” said Hancock. “What they don’t tell you is that a prescription for these drugs is a prescription for pain, heartache, and madness. In “Prescription For Madness” it is my desire that reader comes away with a clear understanding of the dangers that these drugs hold. I hope “Prescription For Madness” and my family’s suffering will at the least prevent others from suffering as we did.”

“Prescription For Madness” is the real story of Hancock’s son, Christopher who at age sixteen was diagnosed with a mental illness. Doctors convinced the family that there was an easy cure for Christopher – prescription anti-depressants. Yet rather than improving, Christopher became ill with violent rages and became suicidal, all the while taking the drugs prescribed for him. Like any non-medical person, the Hancocks believed the doctors’ diagnosis and their recommended cures. Christopher became so out of control that he was committed to a psychiatric hospital. Yet, this only half of the story. The causes for Christopher’s worsening condition will shock and anger anyone reading the book. It is a cautionary tale that is happening far to often in America.

“It is my fervent prayer that what happened to Christopher never happens to another person again,” said Hancock. “If just one family is spared the pain that we suffered because of “Prescription For Madness”, I will consider that I have accomplished something.”
