Camera - Action - Pay; New Method for Generating Revenue by Shooting Graphical Symbols with Mobile Phone

A company in the Czech Republic is starting to provide mobile users with the possibility to photograph eye-catching graphic code with their mobile phones in order to get a service or digital media in return and pay for it.

Prague, Czech Republic (PRWEB) October 21, 2006 -- Shooting graphical symbols with mobile phones equipped with cameras is increasingly trendy. A small JAVA MIDP application in the mobile phone decodes the symbol and connects with servers that provide services or digital media. The virtual world is becoming connected by the real items.

The disadvantage of systems like Shotcode, Semacode or QR is that they are not connected to the payment system. Development is on the way to allow integration of standards for mobile payments and micropayments into shooting codes. Jan Benes from the Czech Republic has a patented system, that allows charging for snapping 2D codes with today's technologies, today's services and without any special modifications of mobile phones. The system uses existing Premium rate sms for charging.

By bringing revenue, the 2D codes can be applied to a much wider area of applications. Third party content providers can sell media like videos or MP3s, news and sport events, provide answers to trivia, users can track postage, vote, check for cultural events in their neighborhood, reserve concert tickets, authorize use of mobile networks (wi-fi at airports), order electronic business cards and much more.

Jan Benes is currently looking for partners to help with faster development of commercial applications and content provision systems.
