Guitarist and Author Jon Chappell joins the Harmony Central community of musicians.
DRAPER, UT (PRWEB) October 20, 2006 -- Harmony Central is delighted to announce the addition of Jon Chappell to their editorial team. Jon will be involved in directing and generating content for the guitar-related aspects of Harmony Central, including reviews, interviews, lessons, videos, and trade show coverage.
As an undergraduate at Carnegie Mellon Jon studied with Carlos Barbosa-Lima, then went on to earn his master's degree in composition from DePaul University. He served as Editor-in-Chief of Guitar Magazine and Guitar Online in New York, as well as Technical Editor of Guitar Shop Magazine. Jon is also founder and the first Editor-in-Chief of Home Recording Magazine.
In addition to his publishing credits, Jon is a monster guitarist, having played and recorded with Pat Benatar, Judy Collins, and Robert Cray. He has contributed numerous musical pieces to film and TV, including Northern Exposure; Walker, Texas Ranger; All My Children; and the feature film Bleeding Hearts, directed by Gregory Hines. He has written 15 best-selling method books, and is the author of three Dummies books--Guitar for Dummies, Rock Guitar for Dummies, and Blues Guitar for Dummies. He's also the author of the popular The Recording Guitarist: A Guide for Home and Studio (Hal Leonard) and Build Your Own PC Recording Studio (McGraw-Hill). His articles have appeared in The New York Times, Rolling Stone, Spin, Electronic Musician, Men's Health, Entertainment Weekly, PC Magazine, Mac World, and many other publications.
