Keeping to the theme of their latest film, Confessions of a Pitfighter, Alliance Group Entertainment hosted an impressive red carpet event complete with low riders, street vendors, models in scantily-clad urban street wear, and heavily sponsored by companies such as: Hypnotiq, Ed Hardy, Bang Time Clothing, and Idol Vodka. The goal of the gala, held at one of Hollywood’s hottest clubs, was to celebrate the completion of Alliance’s latest project, Confession of a Pit Fighter -- which shines the light on underground street pit fighting.
The film, which stars Armand Assante, Flavor Flav, John Savage, James Russo, Elya Baskin, Richard Herd, Hector Echavarria, Gizelle D’Cole, Quentin “Rampage” Jackson, Ricardo Medina, and Yvonne Arias, tells the story of Eddie Castillo, a man who fought desperately to leave his violent days of street fighting behind, and who is suddenly forced back into the grungy underworld of pit fighting after the death of his brother. The film takes the audience through a man's journey of searching for reasons to keep fighting, both literally and figuratively, in order to find an elusive peace and clarity in his life. Tragedy, triumph, love and evil weave their way through Castillo's journey, and in the end, the lessons learned save him from both the streets and from himself.
With movie companies putting greater concentration on Latin moviegoers, Alliance Group Entertainment has received a favorable early response from film buyers interested in distributing Confessions. “My goal in creating Alliance, was to always work on cutting-edge projects that might not have otherwise had the opportunity to make it to film. These are amazing projects, yet bigger studios sometimes don’t get the opportunity to take the types of chances my company is willing to take.” says Alliance CEO Mike Karkeh.
From the looks of the attendance at the party -- which was standing room only, with a line of anxious partygoers waiting to get in, Alliance has found a niche that is both lucrative and interesting to partygoers. “We are excited to host such an event and have the type of turnout we have, especially since Los Angeles is an extremely hard town for events and we were competing with LA’s fashion week, other premieres, and other parties,” says Alliance producer Todd Chamberlain.
The company’s next goal is to concentrate on AFM—where they will feature Confessions of a Pitfighter and other offerings for an international market of buyers. In addition to Confessions, Alliance recently finished production on a horror film, entitled “Lake Dead,” and a television pilot, entitled “The Executives.” The company will begin production in the near future on the films “Farm House” and “Confessions of a Pit Fighter, 2.”
