Herndon, VA (PRWEB) October 23, 2006 -- As part of the continued rebuilding throughout the region resulting from the 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami, the Government Higher Secondary School Kathivakkam (Ennore) opened its doors to over 2,300 students recently, over 200 of whom are Tsunami resettled families. This was made possible in part through funding by the Apex Foundation, an independent charitable organization funded by Apex CoVantage.

“The Apex Foundation is proud to support the funding of this new facility,” said Dr. Shashikant Gupta, Apex’s president. “The school will give thousands of underprivileged children and hundreds of tsunami survivors an opportunity to learn and prepare for a bright future in the wake of disaster.”

Following the devastation created by the tsunami in which 230,000 people lost their lives, the Apex Foundation upheld its reputation and commitment to assisting those in need by pledging to assist in three rebuilding projects in 2005. The other two projects will be completely new facilities for the Panchayat Union Elementary Schools in Nagapattinam.

The Apex Foundation has a strong tradition of providing aid for disaster victims, last year donating $30,000 to help victims of Hurricane Katrina and a total $125,000 for victims of the Indian Ocean Tsunami. In addition to providing money for disaster relief, the Apex Foundation contributes over $300,000 annually to support non profit organizations in the United States, India, and Cambodia.

About the Apex Foundation
The Apex Foundation (www.apexfoundation.org) is the private, non-profit foundation of Apex CoVantage. Since 1992, the Apex Foundation has supported self-empowerment programs that assist and inspire people to achieve self-sufficiency. The Foundation also supports relief agencies that serve people affected by emergencies and natural disasters. By providing grant monies to organizations dedicated to empowering those in need, these groups can provide social assistance to people in dire circumstances. In this way, the Foundation is able to build skills and attitudes, so that people can lead satisfying, dignified lives and, in turn, contribute to the communities in which they live.
