More Than 110,000 Kids And Adults From All 50 States Have Played The Live-Action, Interactive Adventure Game Since It Opened In 2005
Myrtle Beach, S.C. (PRWEB) October 23, 2006 -- More than 10,000 players at MagiQuest of Myrtle Beach, S.C., have achieved the level of “Master Magi,” which requires the successful completion of all available Quests offered in the game. The first live-action, interactive adventure game of its kind in the world, MagiQuest currently offers 12 Quests. It is owned by New Kingdoms, LLC, a joint venture of Burroughs & Chapin Company, Inc. of Myrtle Beach, S.C. and Creative Kingdoms, LLC of R.I.
Since the game debuted in 2005, more than 110,000 children and adults have acquired wands and played MagiQuest at its Broadway at the Beach location in Myrtle Beach. Players, known as “Magi,” have come from all 50 states and several foreign countries including Sweden, Australia and Puerto Rico. Together, they have logged hundreds of thousands of hours playing the game.
“MagiQuest has captured the imagination of families around the world who have come to Myrtle Beach to vacation and experience this unique game,” said Tim Ruedy, vice president of operations for Burroughs & Chapin Company’s sports, entertainment & recreation department. “It’s wonderful to see how parents and their children play together. While the game is certainly exciting for each individual who plays, it can become a real bonding experience for families because it opens new avenues of communication and team-building fun.”
Achieving the level of Master Magi requires several hours of play at MagiQuest. Each Quest requires a Magi to solve riddles and locate items that are hidden throughout the 20,000 square foot three-dimensional interactive fantasy world that is the MagiQuest realm.
“MagiQuest offers Magi the opportunity to interact with fantastic special effects while moving about a large set filled with scenery that captivates the imagination said Ruedy. “It’s a game that fosters problem solving and delivers the excitement of shared discoveries. There’s simply nothing else like the enchanted, otherworldly atmosphere it provides. We think a lot of people will plan their Halloween around it.”
MagiQuest has a number of events planned from Halloween through the end of the year. More information on those events is available online at www.MagiQuest.com.
About MagiQuest
MagiQuest, at Broadway at the Beach in Myrtle Beach, S.C., is the first MagiQuest in the world. MagiQuest is the first entertainment venue of New Kingdoms, LLC, a joint venture of Burroughs & Chapin Company, Inc. of Myrtle Beach, S.C. and Creative Kingdoms, LLC of R.I.
MagiQuest is a live-action adventure game that immerses players in a world of fantasy propelled by sophisticated technology. To participate in the game, each player receives a “magic wand” powered by patented technology that brings MagiQuest’s 20,000 square foot “enchanted” realm to life.
In one respect, MagiQuest parallels the architecture of a video game. Players select from a variety of Quests and Adventures that, once successfully completed, result in an accumulation of special powers. As these powers increase, players proceed to higher levels of the game where the level of difficulty also increases.
But MagiQuest is not confined to a computer screen. It places players inside of a three dimensional, interactive fantasy world where players must follow clues that lead deeper and deeper into a magical realm populated by a dazzling range of characters and creatures. It fosters a problem-solving, shared discovery process between family members of all ages.
MagiQuest was recently featured as the cover story in the October, 2006 issue of FUNWORLD, the magazine of the International Association of Amusement Parks & Attractions (IAAPA). IAAPA has more than 8500 members in 82 countries.
