Barneys New York Debuts Men's Jewelry Collection By Ethos

Ethos, whose trendsetting fashion accessories were a hit at last spring’s Cannes Film Festival, introduced its “Ethos Men's Collection” recently in Barneys New York. High-profile celebrity fans of the line include Ethan Hawke, Mario Van Peebles, Kelsey Grammer, and Sir Ian McGellan.

New York, NY (PRWEB) October 23, 2006 -- Ethos, whose trendsetting fashion accessories were a hit at last spring’s Cannes Film Festival, introduced its “Ethos Men's Collection” recently in Barneys New York. The composition of the pieces, which are hand made in Paris by a Senegalese artisan, incorporates Ethos signature mix of beautiful and exotic materials such zebu bone from Kenya; leather amulettes, Ethiopia; ebony and cocoa shells Mali; hippopotamus horn, Ivory Coast; bronze and glass Ghana; and antique shells and bakelite from Nigeria.

After a chance viewing of the women’s collection, Barneys senior men’s buyer, Jay Bell, challenged Ethos to design a collection that would appeal to the aesthetic of Barneys special yet demanding clientele. The result is both a timeless and versatile collection. “These are culturally- significant statement pieces that also correlate with today’s fashion stories,” asserts Bell.

Tracie Howard, who started Ethos (www.experienceethos.com) in 2004 along with her partner Karen Harper, explains why fashion-conscious individuals seem to gravitate so quickly towards their distinctive line, “These one-of-a-kind pieces allow customers to develop an intimate bond with our jewelry in ways that mass-produced accessories often don’t. Incorporating rare materials from around the world reinforces the substance and individuality our customer is constantly in search of when choosing a particular product or brand.”

Karen adds, “We’ve found that the Ethos customer, whom we affectionately refer to as collectors, seeks purchases that reflect their own global awareness and point-of-view. The fact that we sell one-of a-kind, internationally-made, wearable art means that, beyond their individual beauty, each piece truly has the potential to capture different facets of one’s own personal style and social interests.”

Men seen in Ethos include Ethan Hawke, Mario Van Peebles, Kelsey Grammer, and Sir Ian McGellan. Ethos, whose collections were previously only available via private auctions and events, is optimistic about going retail. Harper states,” Barneys New York was at the top of our list and we look forward to building a long lasting relationship.”

The Ethos Men's Collection of individually designed pieces are currently for sale at Barneys New York, Madison Avenue on the 3rd Floor.
