Are e-books to the publishing world what mp3s and Ipods are to the music industry? With BPS' publication of "Visions of a Skylark Dressed in Black," just in time for Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Kwanzaa, some are starting to believe that's exactly what they are.

Savannah, GA (PRWEB) October 22, 2006 -- Britain's BPS E-Publishing released the highly-anticipated "Visions of a Skylark Dressed in Black," by celebrated American author Aberjhani, of Savannah, Georgia, on October 19, 2006. "We made it just in time for Halloween," said Aberjhani, who describes the book as a bold one that features a meta-fiction novella, short story, and more than 50 poems. "The novella in the book is called 'That Poem Is Not My Brother'—yes, you read the title correctly--and it's a pretty strong piece of fiction that very sensitive readers should approach with caution."

Among the poems in the book, some have been published in ESSENCE Magazine over the past few years. Others were written in response to the passing of such treasured icons as civil rights leader Coretta Scott King and the creative genius Gordon Parks. The impact of hurricane Katrina upon the city of New Orleans and works addressing other modern devastations, including war and terrorism, are also presented.

The multi-genre structure of "Visions of a Skylark Dressed in Black" is not one likely to surprise most readers. In that regard, it bears some similarity to his critically acclaimed "I Made My Boy Out of Poetry." However, as a winner of the Thomas Jefferson Award for his journalism, the Choice Academic Title Award for "Encyclopedia of the Harlem Renaissance," and "Best Poet and Spoken Word Artist of the Year 2006" for his poetry, Aberjhani is known as a strikingly versatile writer. In addition to winning various awards, "Encyclopedia of the Harlem Renaissance" was listed this year as one of Black Issues Book Review Magazine's "essential titles for the home library."

"Visions of a Skylark Dressed in Black" is Aberjhani's fourth published book, following "I Made My Boy Out of Poetry" (1998); "The Wisdom of W.E.B. Du Bois" (2003), and "Encyclopedia of the Harlem Renaissance" (2003). His works can be found in bookstores (online and off), libraries and cultural institutions around the world. In addition to authoring his own works, the former U.S. Air Force editor often serves as a literary consultant and editor for works by other writers.
