Global Institute of Logistics Names Sims Logistics Services as Best Regional 3PL

Hong Kong based Sims Logistics Services has been named a leading regional logistics provider. The Global Institute of Logistics has honoured Sims as its choice for "Best Regional Logistics provider 2006" for its contribution to best practice in the development of the Chinese FMCG sector.

(PRWEB) October 25, 2006 -- Hong Kong based Sims Logistics Services has been named a leading regional logistics provider. The Global Institute of Logistics has honoured Sims as its choice for "Best Regional Logistics provider 2006" for its contribution to best practice in the development of the Chinese FMCG sector.

Following a detailed correlated research and selection process into leading providers of supply chain and third party logistics services in China the Institute has awarded Hong Kong’s Sims Logistics Services for its contribution to best practice in the Chinese FMCG sector. The award reflects the growing importance of China as an export market for the worlds leading FMCG brands.

During its research on the Chinese logistics market and following careful analysis of the quality and value provided by the principal logistics service providers in this sector Sims Logistics services has emerged as the choice of the Awards Committee for best Regional Logistics Provider.

Hong Kong based Sims Logistics Services is an independent operating unit of Sims Trading a wholly owned subsidiary of CITIC Pacific which has built an enviable reputation as a leading added value marketing and distribution service partner to FMCG and healthcare companies in the region. Sims has partnerships with some of the worlds leading brands like Ferrero, Pocari Sweat, Pringles, Ovaltine, Parmalat, Heinz, Kikkoman and Almond Roca.

Sims Logistics Services was evaluated using benchmarking from both the Institute’s FMCG Knowledge Centre and its China Logistics Council.

Speaking at the formal presentation of the Institutes Award of Excellence at the companies HQ in Hong Kong, Kieran Ring CEO of the Global Institute of Logistics said, "The growth of indigenous demand for more sophisticated consumer products is transforming China to one of the fastest growing consumer markets in the world. This fact has not escaped the worlds leading consumer brands, who are now targeting the region in a bid to win new customers and to build market share. It is this growth, which is leading to strong demand for experienced third party logistics partners in the region."

Research on the Chinese logistics market, by the Institute has indicated that multinationals choosing a logistics partner for their China Operations need to contend with an entirely different set of metrics than they would in domestic markets.

In China the critical factor is expertise, A profound lack of qualified, seasoned logistics professionals exists in the market and is reflected at the very highest levels within the management structures of would be partners.

Therefore it is imperative, most particular in the FMCG vertical and in the case of ambient or chilled product that the chosen partner is operating to the highest global standard while concurrently having a very good knowledge of the local market.

The Institute is confident that in Sims Logistics Services, global shippers will find a highly skilled and strategic supply chain partner in the Chinese market. The Institutes research points to an organization built on best practice and operating to the highest global standards.

The company’s grasp on the nuances of the Chinese market is second to none and is built on a unique insight into all facets of the development of the market, particularly the country’s complex national and local government regulations which can be economically treacherous for new entrants.

The company’s development of its National logistics hub at Xinhui and its 9 regional DC’s spread throughout China is the physical evidence of Sims Chinese strategy.

Reacting to today’s announcement, Glenn Smith, Chief Executive of Sims Trading Company said, "We are thrilled to have been awarded 'Best Regional Third Party Logistics Provider 2006.' At Sims Trading our business philosophy is 'to be the best in our field' and we are constantly striving to live up to this vision.
