Big Idea Group Launches Idea Hunt for Bra Improvements

A leading European intimate apparel company enlists Big Idea Group to find innovative solutions for fastening and adjusting bras.

They bulge, slip, pinch, chafe and, in general, make women's lives a misery. The problems with bra fasteners and strap adjusters have persisted for decades, with most designers devoting infinitely more attention to styling rather than basic construction. Now a major European intimate apparel company has asked Big Idea Group (BIG), an innovation developer, to tap its 10,000+ network of inventors to come up with better solutions for bra fasteners and adjusters.

It's a problem whose time has come, according to Mike Collins, Big Idea Group's CEO. "Even though nearly half of the population either wears, or will wear, a bra, there's been little innovation in the way they function since the advent of elastic," he says. "Ask any woman what she dislikes about bras, and the litany of complaints will be extensive. Our client recognizes that there's a real need to improve the way women fasten and adjust their bras."

About the Bra Fastener and Adjuster Idea Hunt

BIG's client is looking for new concepts that help a woman fasten and adjust her bra quickly and securely, without sacrificing looks, comfort, durability, or convenience. Ideally, the solution will not involve extra steps or work for the consumer (e.g., washing in a separate load or hand washing) and will not add significantly to production costs.
