Hollywood Producers Cast Election Trust

The Hollywood Reporter/PGA New Media Council Digital 50 Balloting goes online.

Bellevue, WA (PRWEB) October 27, 2006 -- The New Media Council of the Producers Guild of America (PGA), working with The Hollywood Reporter, chose The Election Trust to power their First Annual Digital 50 List balloting online.

"The Election Trust delivered the eVoting services we required," said Michael Andres Palmieri, New Media Council Chair. "Our Members found online balloting a fast and easy way to input their choices. The New Media Council looks forward to working with The Election Trust again next year on the Digital 50 vote."

Eligible New Media Council voters logged onto The Election Trust's secure voting site to select 50 producers and innovators that are leading the future of digital media and storytelling. The ballot listed candidates across such categories as Animation, Broadband, DVD, Games, ITV, Mobile Content and VFX.

The Digital 50 results were published in the October 19, 2006 issue of The Hollywood Reporter.

John Bodin, Managing Partner of The Election Trust, was not surprised at the acceptance of online voting by the PGA/New Media Council. "It is only natural that such innovative players in developing technologies would embrace eVoting," he said. "We were more than pleased to have powered this community's awards deliberation and look forward to hosting the Digital 50 selection process again next year."

The New Media Council has sought to identify and address issues that lie immediately before the PGA including how "new media" should be defined, and how the role of a new media producer differs from or is similar to its counterpart in traditional media.
