'Naked' CD Series Exposes Good Things
Children's charities benefit from 'The Naked Piano.'
Boston, MA (Billboard Publicity Wire/PRWEB ) October 26, 2006 -- The word 'Naked' can mean different things to different people – depending on their frame of mind. If you were using a positive, innocent definition, you will see "naked" as something that is "bare", "without the customary protection" – even "defenseless, unprotected…exposed". It is in this light that 'The Naked Piano' CD series was created, and it is in this light that a percentage of revenue is donated to children with serious illnesses and needs.
For anyone that has worked with or parented a child with serious illness, it is easy to understand the special needs and protections that must be provided. These children are truly 'naked' and need the help of many specialists and care givers. These services come at a price – often a very high price - that becomes the burden of the parents alone. The Naked Piano CD series aims to help.
The Naked Piano CD series was created by Boston-area native Gary Girouard and features original piano music that blends classical, jazz and pop influences into an expressive array of what the editor of Boston Live hails as "a testament to the gracious sounds of a fluid live recording". No need for censorship labels on these CD's – "Naked" in this case refers to piano music in its purest form – recorded live without synthetic effects or embellishments. "The piano has a distinctive soothing quality" said Girouard, "whether it's cooking, dining or driving in your car, there are times when we all could use some refreshing piano music".
The Naked Piano CD series currently consists of two albums with two more scheduled to be released in 2007. Each album contributes a percentage of CD sales to its assigned charity. For the original Naked Piano CD, donations are made to The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp (http://www.holeinthewallgang.org) – a special place in Ashford, Connecticut that provides a true camp experience for children with cancer and serious blood disorders. For the Naked Piano Volume II – donations are made to the Team Bryce Charity (http://teambrycefund.org) – benefiting special needs and severely challenged children.
Already, over $1500 has been donated and new projects including fundraiser performances and music collaborations are in the works. Girouard comments "our goal is to double our donations every 6 months. Every CD sale, every music download, every purchase helps!"
