Pawleys Plantation Golf & Country Club Names Christopher Spina Executive Chef

Pawleys Plantation Golf & Country Club in Pawleys Island, S.C., has named Christopher Spina its new executive chef.

Pawleys Island, SC (PRWEB) October 28, 2006 -- Pawleys Plantation Golf & Country Club in Pawleys Island, S.C., has named Christopher Spina its new executive chef. Spina, who relocated to the Pawleys Island area from Hilton Head, S.C., is known along the South Carolina coast for creating unique seafood dishes and for his expertise in fine dining.

Spina began his career as a sous chef at The Cliffs Golf & Country Club at Glassy Mountain in Landrum, S.C. At The Cliffs, he oversaw all a la carte and banquet preparation, providing a level of service and quality that was unmatched by any other club in the area. He soon moved up to executive chef at the prestigious Greenville Country Club in Greenville, S.C., where he supervised a staff of 30 who prepared over 300 meals a day. From 2002 to 2004, he was executive chef and food and beverage director at the Tallgrass Golf & Country Club in Shoreham, N.Y.

In 2004, Spina returned to the south to become executive chef at the upscale Alligator Grille in Hilton Head, S.C. While there, he hosted monthly wine dinners with representatives from different wineries.

Spina, a recipient of the National Restaurant Association's Salute to Excellence Scholarship Award, graduated Cum Laude from the University of Akron, Ohio. He currently resides in Murrells Inlet, S.C.
