A Warm and Wise Children's Book Celebrates Uniqueness

Susan Schapiro's brightly illustrated "Brigadoon's Luck (whatever that means)" teaches children to be true to themselves.

BUFFALO, NY (PRWEB) October 29, 2006 -- In the charmingly illustrated "Brigadoon's Luck (whatever that means)" Susan Schapiro shows children that they are special whether or not they meet the standards of any group.

All children need to feel that they are loved and that they belong somewhere. Sometimes though, that's not so easy, especially for children who may feel different. Foster children, adopted children, or children with special needs may try to subvert who and what they are in order to fit in, and in Susan Schapiro's smart and compassionate book, "Brigadoon's Luck (whatever that means)" she explores why they shouldn't. Told in the voice of a dog, this is the story of Brigadoon, a Border Collie that is bred to herd and protect. But when Brigadoon does what he's been born to do, his family gets upset and sends him away. It's only when he finds a friend who recognizes and celebrates his unique talents that Brigadoon finds his luck again -- and his happiness.

Author Schapiro is an expert in communication. In clear, wise prose, she suggests a celebration of each child's unique and particular strengths. This is a book that parents, educators and children of all ages will appreciate and love.
