Burke Brands Inc. Roaster of the Café Don Pablo Brand of Specialty Coffees Announces Mid-Atlantic Expansion

Burke Brands Inc. credits its value proposition for its aggressive sales growth, and cites improved manufacturing and distribution capabilities as reason for opening its second of several planned coffee roasteries in the US.

Burke Brands Inc. headquartered in Miami, signed a lease today on a 5,000 SF manufacturing facility in Hillsborough, North Carolina. The company cited aggressive growth in the Mid-Atlantic region and the necessity to increase production to better serve its rapidly expanding customer base.

The Hillsborough facility will be used primarily for coffee roasting, and will allow Burke Brands to optimize the supply chain by improving manufacturing and distribution capabilities. "The plan is to open a roastery in every market across the US where we have significant market share" states Darron Burke, the company's founder. "Great coffee starts with the highest quality beans, requires small batch artisan roasting, and has to be fresh; the shorter the time from the roaster to the cup, the better the taste. Our business model is unique in the coffee industry, because as most companies grow, they purchase much larger roasters, and roast in one centralized geographic location. Though this allows them improved economies of scale, and thus higher margins, the product quality suffers. Burke Brands, on the other hand, is a quality focused company and will never sacrifice quality for higher margins. We don't need to; now more than ever coffee drinkers are demanding better quality, and they are willing to pay a few pennies more per cup."

The Café Don Pablo brand of specialty coffee was conceived almost 20 years ago when Burke met his Colombian born wife and business partner Eliana. "She brought me to Colombia to meet her family who has been involved in coffee growing and roasting for generations. On that trip I fell in love with her, her family, Latin Culture, and of course coffee. Back then most of us in the US were drinking one of the two major supermarket brands, and didn't have a clue how delicious and different high quality, fresh coffee could taste."

Burke is convinced that Café Don Pablo gourmet coffee is the best tasting coffee available. "There are a handful of roasters in the country that can produce the same level of quality, but nobody can do it better" he claims.
