Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) October 29, 2006 -- Jason Dohring ("Veronica Mars") will emcee the 6th annual "Say No To Drugs" Race to take place at historical Griffith Park on Sunday, December 10th, 2006, benefiting drug education and prevention.
Currently expected to strap on their running shoes and join in on the fun are more than a thousand participants, including Elite Runners as well as special guest LA County Sheriff, Lee Baca, who ran in the last two races and was sworn in as a "Drug-Free Marshal."
With $5,000 in cash and prizes up for grabs, it will be a fast race to the finish for the 5K and 10K runs. For those who prefer a breezier pace, there is a 5K walk. And for the younger participants, ages 5 - 12, there will be a 1K "Kiddie Fun-Run" (all children will receive a "winner's ribbon" for participating). But whether running, walking or simply spectating, all are invited to support this worthwhile cause.
The Los Angeles Fire Department will start the race off with a "bang" by sounding their powerful fire horns -- so don't be late. The 5K walk commences at 8:00 a.m., the 5K and 10K runs at 8:15 a.m., and the 1K Kiddie Fun-Run at 8:30 a.m.
And at the finish line, there will be a delicious pancake breakfast for everyone -- so be sure to bring your appetite.
This holiday event is presented by Team Against Drugs with race proceeds benefiting Friends of Narconon* and the Drug-Free Marshals** -- two organizations with impressive track records in keeping teens and children educated on the harmful effects of drugs.
Sony Pictures, Buena Vista Entertainment, Symantec, JACK FM, Curves and Overstock.com are just a few of the many corporate sponsors contributing to and participating in this worthy cause.
