LSGB Vienna Summit, to be held on December 14-15, promises to be an event of great importance to the standards community. It will follow the same principles of the former conferences. "From Chaos to Order", the theme of the event will be twofold; taking stock of the current state of standards in order to identify which standards matter in the GILT business, and, secondly, adjusting them, where necessary to future needs.

The highly anticipated LSGB Vienna Summit, to be held on December 14-15, promises to be an event of great importance to the standards community. It will follow the same principles of the former conferences. "From Chaos to Order", the theme of the event will be twofold; taking stock of the current state of standards in order to identify which standards matter in the GILT business, and, secondly, adjusting them, where necessary to future needs. This meeting will help establish a platform for providing best practices and recommendations for all actors in the industry on how to implement and use these standards to achieve full interoperability and collaborative communication among primary user groups in the future. A specific example of such will be the further development of Wikiforstandards.org, a project that was first introduced at a previous LSBG summit held in Berlin. The content and results of the Vienna Summit will be integrated into Wikiforstandards.org, as a dynamically updated, globally accessible resource for ongoing standards projects.

The Summit's diverse workshops and lectures will cover various dimensions of standards, as well as vital aspects of globalization, relevant technologies, and the implications of all of these issues to the changes taking place in modern business. Given the global nature of the subject matter and the European setting of the event, it is appropriate that the summit features leading academics and businesspeople from Austria, Canada, the Czech Republic, Finland, Ireland, Japan, Spain, and the United States; an international group with a strong internationalization and globalization focus.

A primary highlight of the event will be the keynote presentations, presented by three of the most innovative figures in this community. The first keynote presentation will be delivered by Gerard Meijssen, the initiator of Wikiforstandards.org. The second keynote presentation will be delivered by Felix Sasaki of W3C via live Webcast from Japan. "From Chaos to Order", the final and featured keynote presentation (after which the event has been named), will be delivered by Nico Sallembien. In light of his company's emergence as the most relevant entity in the modern world of language and business, Mr. Sallembien, a Software Engineer at Google, brings an invaluable perspective to the conference.

The summit is of direct relevance to standard bodies & practitioners, linguists, government agencies, language service providers, publishers (print or electronic), software developers, and those conducting business internationally. That is why some of the leading minds in standards, linguistics, translation and other language services, and the private and public sectors have dedicated their time to attend and participate in what promises to be a highly rewarding collaborative educational and networking event.

The two-day summit will be held at the 4-star Penta Renaissance Hotel, an outstanding facility providing all conceivable amenities centrally located near the heart of historic Vienna. Among other attractions, The Museum of Fine Art, Belvedere Castle, and the internationally renowned State Opera House are all within walking distance. Since LSGB has set aside a block of rooms, conference attendees enjoy preferential accommodation rates at the Hotel. With its unparalleled architecture and numerous attractions, Vienna is truly a world-class destination that is especially beautiful during the holiday season.
