Legacy.com Honors Lives Of Fallen U.S. Troops In Iraq, Afghanistan This Veteran's Day

In Remembrance website traffic continues to grow as veterans increasingly turn to digital memorialization.

EVANSTON, Ill. (PRWEB) November 2, 2006 -- This Veterans' Day, a growing number of veterans are turning to the internet to reflect on the sacrifices made by their fellow servicemen and women. It is through Legacy.com's In Remembrance website that they are also celebrating the lives of those who paid the ultimate price for our freedom.

Launched in 2005, In Remembrance (www.legacy.com/soldiers.asp) features obituaries, photos, Guest Books, Moving Tributes and links to related information about more than 2,800 fallen troops. To date, the site has received approximately 6.6 million page views, 700,000 unique visitors and 100,000 plus Guest Book entries.

"In Remembrance is a permanent place for friends, family and other visitors to continually pay tribute to our nation's heroes," said John Bikus, chief marketing officer for Legacy.com. "We created this site with the goal of keeping memories alive by giving visitors a feel for the person behind the uniform."

Among the various features on the In Remembrance website, the Moving Tribute service has remained a popular way to memorialize loved ones. This free national service allows friends and family members to create a multimedia slideshow of a soldier's life through captioned photos, music, text and voiceover narration. Since its inception last Veterans' Day, the site has experienced a four-fold increase in traffic; more than 275 soldiers are currently honored with a Moving Tribute.

Another new Legacy.com feature available on the In Remembrance website is audio entries. Audio entries, at no cost, provide an additional outlet for users to express their thoughts, memories and condolences in individual Guest Books.
