San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) November 1, 2006 -- Two Interaction Associates (IA) veteran s are among the contributing authors of a definitive new handbook from the International Association of Facilitators titled, Creating a Culture of Collaboration (Jossey-Bass, 2006), a practical resource targeted to corporate executives, governmental policy makers, group facilitators, organization development practitioners, and other advocates of collaborative processes.
Jamie Harris and David Straus authored a chapter in the book titled "Theory in Action: Building Collaboration in a County Public Agency"— which explores how a five-pronged process for building collaborative cultures was applied in the public works department of a country agency.
Jamie Harris is a senior collaboration consultant for IA and is the practice area leader for the company's collaborative change practice. Harris formerly served as the company's corporate counsel and a member of the board of directors. Among other areas of professional involvement, Harris served as a "management mentor" for the Harvard Business School Publishing Company's Manage Mentor series and has been published in Executive Excellence and the online magazine HR.com.
David Straus founded IA in 1969 and has served over the years in every major leadership position in the company, including president, CEO, and chairman of the board. He is the coauthor (with Michael Doyle) of the bestseller, How to Make Meetings Work (Jove Books, 1976) and he authored the more recent, How to Make Collaboration Work: Powerful Ways to Build Consensus, Solve Problems, and Make Decisions (Berrett-Koehler, 2002).
