The Wikipedia of Gaming Website is Launched

"Gamer Unlimited" gaming website allows virtually anyone to submit gaming-related articles so long as the source of the article is cited. Owner hopes to become the next big gaming website.

New York, NY (PRWEB) November 4, 2006 -- Video game website, Gamer Unlimited (www.gamerunlimited.com), is built on a unique idea ... to maintain a game-related article site that anybody and everybody can submit to. Think of it as a gaming article-only version of Wikipedia. Gamer Unlimited owner, Mark Nelson, says "When I saw the amazing success of 'open-source' style websites, that anybody could add on to, such as Wikipedia, or Newgrounds, I knew that there needed to be a site like this devoted to video game articles", he continues "If Wikipedia can become one of the most popular websites simply by relying on users to submit content, then so can Gamer Unlimited dot com [laughs]".

When Gamer Unlimited opened it's doors on February 1st, 2002, it was only a small video game discussion forum primarily focusing on Maxis' "The Sims" series. "Since it's opening, Gamer Unlimited has branched out tremendously." he elaborates, "Since then we've added a Flash-games arcade, a merchandise store, cheat codes, and most importantly, the implementation of our whole article submission feature." says Nelson. "Basically, we would like to become the best of gaming on the web, by collecting all of the greatest gaming articles in one place. Gamer Unlimited is the ultimate open-source gaming articles project." Upon visiting Gamer Unlimited's homepage, you may browse and submit articles, such as industry news, reviews, cheat codes previews, and special features, play 'Flash' games, discuss video games, listen to the Live Radio, or simply sit back, and relax in the "off-topic" discussion sections. "Registration is something that I did not want to force upon users, although it is recommended," says Mark "Nothing irks me more than having to fill out a long and tedious registration form at some stupid website when I shouldn't have to, which is exactly why Gamer Unlimited does not require registration upon users." Mr. Nelson hopes to have doubled the amount of articles submitted by the end of this year. "All you've gotta do to help out is submit articles from your favorite gaming website, or write your own. GameSpot, IGN, whatever. It doesn't matter, just make sure you are following their copyright rules".

Submitting articles at Gamer Unlimited is free, all they require for you to do is read over their rules about submitting. "We ask that you simply follow any rules that your submitted article's source requires, however, we do enforce that at the bare minimum, all articles must have their sources cited, for obvious copyright reasons." Gamer Unlimited is also a great place for up-and-coming article authors to submit their work to be read by others. "[Gamer Unlimited] isn't that large, or active yet" says Nelson, "but I feel that in time we will be an awesome source for all of your gaming article and discussion needs". By submitting gaming articles to Gamer Unlimited, you are helping this 'open-source gaming articles project' expand.

"Some of the best video game websites only offer game reviews, others only offer cheat codes, and so on... Gamer Unlimited's aim is to pull together all of the best reviews, cheat codes, news, etc... into one place on the web." Mark says excitedly. " ... When I looked around the internet and found no sites doing anything quite like Gamer Unlimited, I said to myself, Hey, this could really work."
