Watertown, MA (PRWEB) November 1, 2006 -- Innosight LLC, a leading consulting, executive training and venture investment firm that helps companies improve their ability to generate new growth through innovation, announced today that renowned innovation expert Dr. Richard N. Foster has joined its board of directors.
Foster, who has more than 30 years of consulting experience, will help Innosight accelerate the growth of its consulting and executive training offerings. Foster's 1986 book, "Innovation: The Attacker's Advantage," is acknowledged as an early classic in the field of innovation economics. His 2000 book, "Creative Destruction," challenged the conventional wisdom about "excellent companies" and has led to new management paradigms. Foster's research and writing have focused on the relationship between technological change, innovation and capital formation for more than three decades. Innosight will leverage Foster's extensive experience in consulting and thought-leadership on innovation. He will serve as an advisor and assist with strategic projects to create compelling capital market offerings.
"I am absolutely delighted Dick Foster has joined the Innosight team," said Innosight co-founder and Harvard Business School professor Clayton M. Christensen. "I have long respected his unique perspectives on innovation. His thoughts were stimulating and helpful to me as I shaped my own concepts of innovation. Dick and I think very much alike. He will help further our mission to bring greater predictability to the world of innovation."
Prior to joining Innosight, Foster was at McKinsey & Company, a management consulting firm, for 31 years, 22 of which were spent as a senior partner and director. Foster's most recent role at McKinsey was as the leader of its private equity practice. He also co-founded the firm's high technology practice in the late 1970s, its chemicals practice in the early 1980s, and was one of the founders of its healthcare practice in the late 1980s. In the 1990s, Foster also led McKinsey's global "Special Initiatives," which were aimed at creating new knowledge for the benefit of McKinsey's clients. While at McKinsey, Foster served more than 50 leading global companies primarily in the healthcare, electronics and chemicals arena. He also devoted much of his time to the top management of a Fortune 50 healthcare company where he was a lead external advisor from 1990 – 2003.
"Dick's wealth of experience will help Innosight continue to deliver distinctive insights to our clients," said Innosight co-founder and President Mark Johnson. "He will help Innosight develop new offerings that help companies unlock the power of new market growth."
Foster is currently the managing partner of Investment and Advisory Services, LLC. He also serves on the board of several healthcare and financial organizations.
