STARoundtable (Strategic Talent Acquisition Roundtable) launched today by announcing three invitation-only membership communities: Southern California, Pacific Northwest and Great Southwest/Dallas.

Designed exclusively for corporate, government and non-profit recruiting and staffing leaders, STARoundtable offers highly-structured, professionally-facilitated discussion and educational workgroup sessions focused solely on the challenges and opportunities of its membership. In addition to providing regional networking opportunities, STARoundtable offers access to powerful tools, resources, and research on staffing and recruiting leadership. In fact, members can commission customized research reports based on their own unique needs.

“As former corporate recruiting leaders, we know how challenging it is to build and lead recruiting teams, juggle many critical projects, and keep the business informed,” explains Jeremy Eskenazi, STARoundtable Southern California Facilitator. “This forum is specifically designed for busy recruiting leaders who want access to a community of their peers to share with and learn from. These roundtables may help them think through an organizational challenge they’re facing, identify vendors that can help, or learn from another company’s best practice.”

STARoundtable was created to fill a gap in the way staffing leaders learn from each other and educate themselves about new staffing trends and issues. The organization was created to provide:

•High-quality, professionally facilitated roundtable meetings in a regional format (members meet with other members in their designated region)

•Invitation-only membership to organizations of all sizes and ownership structures, including the option of multiple members from the same company. Suppliers to the staffing, recruiting and HR profession are prohibited from membership

•A network to share organizational recruiting and staffing-related tools, templates, and research that is driven by the membership and developed by STARoundtable’s commissioned research partners

•Recruiting and Staffing Leadership Academies that conduct powerful educational events and workshops, open to the public, on staffing and recruiting leadership

•A reasonable cost (a fraction of other formal membership roundtable organizations)

While there are several other formal and informal networking resources available to the recruiting and staffing community, there are few that facilitate networking and learning on a regional basis, where staffing leaders can address community-specific opportunities and challenges. Other networking groups often focus only on large, publicly-traded corporations, ignoring mid-sized and smaller firms (both public and private) that may have unique processes, tools, or ideas that could be shared. The STARoundtable concept was created as a way to fill these niches

“This regional approach is exactly what I’ve been looking for since relocating from the Midwest to the West Coast,” explains Rodney Moses, VP, Global Talent Acquisition at Invitrogen, a major biotech company based in Southern California. “It’s the best of both worlds: regional networking coupled with education on real-life best practices.”

STARoundtable is not only about networking and learning from peers; a strong component is formal training provided by leading experts in the field who formerly led recruiting and staffing functions at major companies with content specifically about how to lead corporate staffing functions. The STARoundtable Academies will be launched in 2007. The Corporate Recruiting and Staffing Leadership Academy will operate in 10 cities in North America, while the Hospitality Recruiting and Staffing Leadership Academy will operate in 3 cities in the US.
