Tara Lawrence, Executive Director of Hats Off For Cancer , was named a finalist in the 2006 Voices campaign , sponsored by Charming Shoppes. The Voices campaign honors everyday women across America for their passion, leadership and achievements, as they raise their voice to create positive change.
Hats Off For Cancer is a non-profit organization that collects and distributes new hats to children who have lost their hair due to their cancer treatments. Through donations from local and national companies, public officials, celebrities, schools and civic organizations, Hats Off For Cancer has delivered hats to more than 690,000 deserving children on five continents around the world since 1996.
“As Hats Off For Cancer celebrates our ten year anniversary, I’m excited to be honored by Voices,” said Tara Lawrence, Executive Director of Hats Off For Cancer. “It is wonderful to know that after a decade, we are still making a positive impact in the lives of children with cancer.”
As a finalist, Ms. Lawrence will receive $20,000 to support Hats Off For Cancer. Viewer voting to decide the Voices Grand Prize Winner is open to the public between October 25, 2006 and November 10, 2006. The Grand Prize Winner will receive a 2007 Hyundai Entourage.

“We are looking to the community for their support in voting,” said Ms. Lawrence. “It would be wonderful to win the Hyundai Entourage because it would make transporting the large boxes of hats we receive as donations so much easier.”
Ms. Lawrence will be honored with the other four finalists on episodes of MONTEL, airing November 1, 2, 3, 6, 8, 13, 15, and 17. Viewer voting from these episodes will decide the Voices Grand Prize Winner. All five Voices Finalists will be honored by Charming Shoppes, Inc. Chairman and CEO, Dorrit Bern on MONTEL’s $100,000-Winners' Finale, airing on November 24, 2006. The Grand Prize Winner will also be announced on the Winners’ Finale.
