Yuma, AZ (PRWEB) November 3, 2006 -- Palm View Rehabilitation and Care Center, a member of the Kissito Healthcare family, was recognized Wednesday as one of Yuma County, Arizona's best places to work, following nomination by an employee, and an extensive application review process by five independent human resources professionals from across the nation.

Becoming the employer of choice in the long term care industry is an integral part of Kissito Healthcare's vision, and Palm View's award is a strong testament to Kissito's progress.

Over 50 Yuma County businesses were nominated for the 2006 Workplace Excellence Award, and Palm View was the winner among eight finalists in the large (50 employees or more) business category.

Palm View Administrator Fred Randolph said the employees are what make Palm View an excellent place to work. Furthermore, "You have to value employees and they have to know you value them. Our employees have different cultures, personalities, personal histories, and expectations. And there is no cookie cutter approach. We are constantly learning how employees feel and satisfying individual needs."

As part of the submission process, Kissito wrote essays on areas like culture and change management, recruitment and retention, employee relations, and diversity. Judges scored the essays based on innovation, the impact of human resources on business strategy, and excellence in implementation.

Many Palm View employees speak of their workplace as a home away from home. Barbara Holscher, the licensed practical nurse who nominated Palm View for the award, said she cannot imagine working anywhere else, and she loves having "a family" at Palm View.

The Workplace Excellence Awards are organized by The Yuma Sun.
