Merrillville, IN, (PRWEB) November 6, 2006 -- Family Mobile Medical Services, Inc., a Merrillville, Indiana, ambulance and wheelchair transportation company, announces the launch of the Compassion Card Program, a community-focused program offering free medical transportation through select hospitals, nursing homes and healthcare facilities to patients in financial need.
Compassion Cards are provided to patients through healthcare facilities that are experiencing a growing number of patients without the resources to pay for transportation services after discharge. The card can also be used for patient transportation from the healthcare facility to another treatment location. The facility simply provides the card to the driver at the time of patient pickup, and the patient receives a one-time-only, one-way, no-charge transport.
"We're excited about this new program and the opportunity to make a positive impact in Northwest Indiana by offering Social Services and Discharge decision makers a program to help their neediest patients, and a chance to treat patients like family," says Ben Richmond, President and CEO of Family Mobile Medical Services, Inc.
Family Mobile Medical provides 24-hour ambulance and wheelchair transportation, 365 days a year, for ambulatory and non-ambulatory patients. Transportation to physical therapy, dialysis, radiation therapy, physician appointments, hospital-to-residence and hospital-to-hospital transportation is the heart of Family Mobile Medical service.
Family Mobile Medical was founded by Ben Richmond in 1994 with a single location, two ambulances and eight employees, and has grown to three locations with 45 ambulances and 150 employees. Mr. Richmond also founded Mobile Emergency Medical Services (Mobile EMS) in South Bend. Ben Richmond is a community-minded entrepreneur and certified MBE with over 20 years in the medical field.
To expand social and educational opportunities in the community, Family Mobile Medical supports and sponsors Merrillville POP Warner, Kiwanis, Kids Wish Network, St. Jude House, Valparaiso University and the Special Olympics. With Ben Richmond's sponsorship, a special Olympian traveled to Italy, brought home a gold medal in basketball and realized her dream.
The company's goal is to positively impact the community and the industry, provide a valuable and reliable healthcare service to clients and patients, and high standards for effective and compassionate care.
