Christian Discipleship Energizes Church Membership, According to ChristiaNet Poll

Christian discipleship is energizing Church membership within the Body of Christ, according to http://christiannews.christianet.com/.

Houston, TX (PRWEB) November 5, 2006 -- ChristiaNet.com (http://www.christianet.com), the world's largest Christian portal with 12 million monthly page loads, recently asked readers the survey question, "Are you being discipled?" There was a vast majority who felt they were receiving Christian discipleship. People from many walks of life participated in this survey. One reader wrote, "I am a true disciple as I spent 27 years as a Monk here in Ireland, and I have been to many countries working as a missionary. I was taught as a brother to incorporate the Holy Bible into my life and live according to my Lord's teachings."

There were 183 participants in this survey, with 131 responding "yes." One Believer summed up discipleship by saying, "I share the love of God with those whom I come in contact with." Christian discipleship should follow those who are truly Disciples of Christ. Several of the readers who responded mentioned their churches as a main source for their spiritual food and growth. Other sources mentioned by respondents were Bible reading, the Holy Spirit, home groups, Christian books, television programs and through ChristiaNet.com.

Twenty-six of those who participated in this survey answered "no" to the survey question. The meaning of true Christian discipleship can be seen by looking at Jesus' ministry while He was on earth. Some respondents in this group do not feel that they have been discipled. While it is important for churches to take this role for edification for the Body of Christ, there are others ways to grow and be encouraged in the Lord. One reader talked about an opportunity to attend a course that teaches how to disciple others and receive encouragement through doing so.

Twenty-six were unsure if they were being discipled. Some of the responses in this group show uncertainty regarding the survey question. Are you being taught about Christ? A person can be taught through individual Bible study and fellowship with other Christians. Any person that has accepted Christ as Savior and Lord is a Disciple of Christ. Overall the majority of Believers that participated believe that they are receiving encouragement through their churches and other Christians. One Believer summed up the process by stating, "In my pursuit to disciple a group of guys, I'm being discipled by the process." For more information, visit: http://christiannews.christianet.com/.
