Launched on July 4, 2006, Jimmy Wales created Campaigns Wikia to provide people on all sides of the political spectrum a central forum to gather and share their diverse political perspectives.

All content on the site can be freely edited and viewed by anyone; in fact, in roughly four months it has been translated into nine languages, including Italian, French, German, Portuguese, Spanish, Hungarian, Chinese, Japanese, and English.

As part of his mission to spread the notion of participatory politics, Wales has personally met with people around the world who are interested in contributing to Campaigns Wikia.
