The Fantasy Football Times.com Hits the Boston Airwaves on ESPN Radio
America's Fantasy Football Newsletter appearing on weekly Sunday morning segment.
Boston, MA (PRWEB) November 9, 2006 -- Upwards of 15 million and counting. That's how many fantasy football players are busy setting their lineups every Sunday morning. And with the growth of the industry continuing to increase at a rate of 7-10% each year, according to the Fantasy Sports Trade Association, the demand for fantasy football programming is at an all-time high.
Enter the Fantasy Football Times.com (http://www.FantasyFootballTimes.com) and founder Greg Bebezas. The web service, which specializes in fantasy football news and information, has appeared on several radio and TV shows throughout the US and Canada over the past three years. As the market has grown over that time, Bebezas has seen sports radio as an area of untapped potential for industry experts, such as himself.
"Sports talk radio is the perfect forum to interact with and provide analysis to fantasy football players," says Bebezas. "It's a very engaging audience that is always looking to get as much insight as they can."
One of the media outlets that has begun to cater more to the fantasy football market segment this season is ESPN Radio, who launched their syndicated Boston station on 890 AM earlier this year.
In an attempt to help fantasy football players prepare for each week's games, the station has decided to add two weekly "Fantasy Football Fix" segments (10:45am and 11:45am) to its Sunday morning NFL Countdown show, which is hosted by Kevin Winter and former NFL star Russ Francis, with Bebezas being the guest expert for the latter segment.
For Bebezas, being involved with ESPN Radio on a weekly basis has become a great way to rely late-breaking news and tips on the key match-ups for the week. It's a situation that he feels can grow into bigger opportunities.
"I've seen first-hand how successful fantasy football call-in segments can be at both sports and rock radio stations. It's really unbelievable how many people want to talk about their teams," says Bebezas. "Mainstream media has started to catch on, and I fully expect to see a major influx of fantasy football programming on sports radio in the near future."
With 15 million eyes and ears on the lookout for fantasy football related programming, there is no reason to think otherwise.
