St. Louis, MO (PRWEB) November 7, 2006 -- From love-struck lunatics to requests from the after-life, St. Louis-area hotels have heard it all. Just in time for the holiday travel rush, Concierge Preferred magazine and ConciergePreferred.com's St. Louis edition has compiled its annual list of the most bizarre requests ever received by hotel staff and has announced its winners for the Strangest Request Contest 2006 – trust us, they're strange.

After months of accepting entries, Concierge Preferred has awarded the top prize to Florissant resident Karen L. Pitts, director of sales, Residence Inn by Marriott St. Louis Westport. Karen will enjoy an all-inclusive Apple Vacations trip to Cancun, Mexico. Here's her story:

A guest came into the hotel and came up to our front desk. His conversation began with him telling us how much his grandmother had loved our hotel. He then showed us a jar and told us his grandmother's ashes were inside. He asked if he could spread her ashes across the front desk, because she loved our hotel so much. Then he asked if he could spread them on the floor of our dining room - she loved that too. If not there, how about on a mattress? Our General Manager told him that if he put his grandma anywhere inside the hotel, we would have to sweep her up. At the end, we did allow him to sprinkle a few ashes on the desk. We spent the rest of the day in wonder!

Additional "Strangest" finalists include: Ruth Booker, Renaissance Grand; Terry Haney, Parkway Hotel; Anne Oestreich, Frontenac Hilton; and Pam Schulz, St. Charles Convention & Visitors Bureau.
