Vancouver, BC (PRWEB) November 8, 2006 -- Partners Raincoast Books and Pocket Cine Inc. present the "What's Your Worst-Case Scenario?" Video Contest.

Calling all fans of the best-selling Worst-Case Scenario series, the daredevils and the accident prone, professional and amateur videographers and animators: Please submit a short video of your Worst-Case Scenario survival tip for a chance to win a $500 shopping spree in a participating bookstore. Over 90 booksellers across Canada are participating with in-store promotional displays featuring all of the popular titles in the series. Weekly book and gift prizes will be available for the contest period: November 13 to January 31.

Worst-Case Scenario Survival Handbooks are not just about surviving a shark attack or an avalanche, the book series by Josh Piven and David Borgenicht is also about escaping a bad date, surviving holiday shopping, disciplining an imaginary friend and dodging a dull co-worker.

The Worst-Case Scenario video contest is a chance to tell the world your worst-case scenario survival tip. We know you have the answers to hundreds of worst-case scenarios, like how to get gum out of your hair, how to prevent your cat from clawing the furniture, how to get a thorn out of your puppy's paw, and how to win a hockey fight.

Submit your video in any form. Use your cellphone camera, digital camera, video cam, animation software, whatever you like to use. Simply upload a digital file of your video using the contest entry form. For contest details, visit:

A video gallery will showcase the entries, allowing fans to vote for their favourite submissions, share the links with friends, and download the videos to video-capable mobile devices, such as cellphones and iPods.

It's YouTube.com meets Worst-Case Scenario.

Raincoast's Internet Marketing Manager Monique Trottier says, "Worst-Case Scenario really is a phenomenal success. There are over 2 million copies sold, and the subject themes get better and better." For Raincoast, "the video contest is a chance for fans of the series to tell us what they think is funny and cool about the books and the scenarios. It's about having fun and experimenting with mobile phones, online video and social networking."

Raincoast Books is a Canadian publisher, and the distributor of several Canadian, UK and American publishers, such as Chronicle Books, the publisher of the Worst-Case Scenario Survival Handbook series. Raincoast is a leader in the Canadian publishing industry. Raincoast was the first Canadian publisher to launch a literary podcast series (November 2005) and a blog (October 2005).
