Heroes for Heart Campaign Breaks Million Dollar Mark; Record-Setting Houston Initiative for American Heart Association

The Heroes for Heart Campaign, a fundraising initiative for the American Heart Association, is breaking all records in the 24-year history of the Houston-based appeal. A generous contribution today from Fulbright & Jaworski, LLP propelled the campaign over the $1 million dollar mark -- the first time the benchmark has been reached three months prior to the event, scheduled for February 3, 2007.

Houston, TX (PRWEB) November 10, 2006 -- The Heroes for Heart Campaign, a fundraising initiative for the American Heart Association, is breaking all records in the 24-year history of the Houston-based appeal. A generous contribution today from Fulbright & Jaworski, LLP propelled the Campaign over the $1 million dollar mark -- the first time the benchmark has been reached three months prior to the event, scheduled for February 3, 2007.

"American Heart Association's major sponsors Fulbright & Jaworski, Shell Oil Company, Stanford Group and DHL have clearly demonstrated their commitment as good corporate citizens," commented campaign chairman Tim Connolly, CEO of Corporate Strategies. "Their support of the Heroes for Heart Campaign underscores the urgency of increasing awareness of heart disease, and funding research to fight this #1 killer of men and women in the United States."

Shell Oil Company President John Hofmeister and his wife Karen will be honored at the Heroes for Heart Ball, along with renowned cardiologist and author Dr. K. Lance Gould, and his wife Lenja, and philanthropists Lester and Sue Smith. Philamena and Arthur Baird, both survivors of open heart surgery, are Honorary Chairmen, with Fred Zeidman serving as Finance Chair.

"Heart disease affects our families, friends and co-workers," says campaign co-chair Jan Carson. "We encourage everyone to be a Hero for Heart, and make a donation to the American Heart Association through our website, www.HeroesforHeart.org or call us at 713-610-5081 to place your bid on our premier auction items, to be auctioned the night of the event."

Those premier auction items include a 60" x 60" original oil on canvas "Heart" painting by internationally famed artist Peter Max and a 2007 Jaguar XJ sedan, donated by Momentum Jaguar.

Since 1924, the American Heart Association has helped protect people of all ages and ethnicities from the devastating results of heart disease and stroke. These diseases, the nation's number one and number three killers, claim   more than 930,000 American lives a year, more than the seven leading causes of death combined.

For more information on how you can be a part of the Heroes for Heart Campaign, or attend the Heroes for Heart Ball on February 3, 2007, call 713-610-5081 or email.
