Quiz-Tree.com Announces the Release of Twenty New Interactive Sight Words Exercises

Sight Words are some of the most frequently used words in the English language. Twenty new interactive Sight Words exercises have been added to Quiz-Tree.com.

Palm Coast, FL. (PRWEB) November 14, 2006 -- Sight Words are some of the most frequently used words in the English language. In response to requests from educators, Sierra Vista Software has released twenty new Sight Words exercises that teach these important words in context.

Professional educators, as well as parents, know that reading is one of the most important skills that a young person has to acquire in order to live a productive life in our society. Fluency with Sight Words is a major milestone on the way to functional literacy.

Sight Words (also called the Dolch Word List) are some of the most frequently used words in the English language. The standard Dolch Word List contains just over 200 words, however they comprise approximately 50 to 70 percent of general reading material.

In the past several months Quiz-Tree.com has added 40 Sight Words quizzes that can also be used as exercises. Recently, 20 more exercises have been added, which brings the total number of Sight Words exercises at Quiz-Tree.com to 60.

Unlike the previously added exercises, these new exercises teach Sight Words in context. Each of the 20 new exercises contains 10 or more simple sentences. The sentences have been specifically composed to contain very few words other than the Sight Words. There is at least one sentence for each Sight Word.

Each sentence is read aloud by the program and displayed on the computer screen. The audio portion contains the complete sentence, whereas the sentence is displayed with one of the words missing. The student's job is to select the missing word out of four possible choices. After the correct answer is chosen, the quiz moves on to the next question. The last question is followed by a summary that includes the number of right and wrong answers as well as the percentage of correct answers.

The new exercises are intended for K-3 students and anyone else learning to read.
