Fullerton, CA (PRWEB) November 11, 2006 -- The Sam Morrison Band has been chosen from thousands of bands, internationally, as award recipient for "Single of the Year" in the Southern Rock category of the 16th Annual International Los Angeles Music Awards. The winning song is "Peacekeepers" from their debut CD, Sam Morrison Band on Convalian Records.
"It's truly an honor to be chosen for an award like this," says Morrison, "the fact that "Peacekeepers" was the song they chose makes it even more meaningful to us in that it is a song about our military and we won right before Veterans Day!"
"Peacekeepers" was written right after the band returned from a Military tour of Bosnia, Kosovo and Macedonia. "It is a tribute not only to the troops we performed for there in the Balkans," says Morrison, "but also to the men and women serving in our Armed Forces all over the world. They truly are Heroes."
The band received the award on Nov. 9 2006 at the Music Box Theater in Hollywood CA.
The Sam Morrison Band, based out of Fullerton CA, is also competing for "Best Live Band" in the upcoming Orange County Music Awards. Their showcase performance will be on November 30, at Dipiazza's in Long Beach.
